Meet the Artist:
Wray Belcher

Wray is a human who loves her dogs, takes her tea green, and is on a mission to inspire other humans with curiosity about the world around — and within — them through visual storytelling.

She worked as a microbiology researcher for six years before transitioning into visual and narrative-based education as a scientific illustrator and instructional designer. Her work has been published in scientific journals, including Anatomical Sciences Education and Springer Nature. Wray holds a BS in Biology from Virginia Tech and a Certificate in Biomedical Visualization and Communication from the University of British Columbia. She is currently pursuing an MSEd in Educational Technology and Instructional Design to create more effective, evidence-based learning experiences.

Her creative process applies scientific rigor with empathy, using design-based research and human-centered design principles to create accessible educational resources. She is especially drawn to character-driven projects — any opportunity to illustrate or animate "friend-shaped lil' guys."In her free time, she is a Swiss-army serial creative with too many hobbies and projects to list, but rest assured, she will always be creating. And did I mention she loves her dogs?
