Real Good AI & You

So what if you don’t stream or make content? What if you want to help support Full STEAM Ahead, but you don’t have an online audience? Your phone is a doom-scroll box that makes you laugh…well…breathe a little harder through your nose sometimes.

You hold more power than you think. As long as you have a social media account, you can be a crucial seventh type of Real Good Volunteer: The Signal Booster. You don't need to be an expert—just be yourself!
Social Media algorithms promote content that gets people talking in the comments. Not with generic copy paste words, but actually engaging with the video or image/text posts.

We talk a lot about algorithms, but they're designed to root out content that makes people engage. The best thing you can do to help us promote Full STEAM Ahead is not to game the system but to be a real HUMAN person reacting to our work. Telling the algorithm, "Hey, more of this, please.”

Here’s how:

  • The "Curious Click" or the "Honest Like"
Did a video make you smile? Breath a little harder? Did a post about our Coloring Book Gallery make you think, "Huh, that's a cool idea"? A "like" or a "heart" tells the platform: "This content made someone feel positive." EZ PZ.

  • The "I Don't Get It"
Most people are afraid to comment if they don't feel like an expert. But curiosity is valuable! Comments that spark conversation are catnip for the algorithm. Some examples:

    • "This is A LOT, and my brain is lagging like a gateway PC from 1999. Can you explain [the topic of the post] like I'm 10?"

    • “How can I learn more about this?"

    • “You lost me, then I started getting it, but alas, just like when I was a kid, I had confidently grabbed the hand of a lady that had the same hair as my mom”

    • “I want to support this specifically. Where do I start?"

  • The “Unheard Minority”
These are folks impacted daily by AI that rarely get talked about, but deserve a seat at the table. They might feel like abandoned canaries in the coal mine, but we know they’re there! We want to find them so they can get the oxygen they need:

    • Copy and Video Editors

    • Professional Translators

    • Graphic Designers

    • Writers

    • Sculptors

    • Crochet Pattern Designers

    • Musicians and SO MANY MORE

  • The importance of following and watch time:

    • Most social media platforms lock features behind follower counts. For example TikTok has its playlists and monetization features locked behind 10,000 Followers. We’re currently at 4K

    • YouTube locks monetization behind watch time, at least 3000 hours per year for public watch hours or 3 million views for shorts. And we’re currently at 57 hours and 16k views.

  • The importance of watching the whole video:

    • We try to keep our videos for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts under a minute and a half because watch time is KING. If you scroll past a video within the first 3-4 seconds, we don’t get put on the For You Page. In fact, both TikTok and Instagram explicitly tell us that because we lost more than 50% of our viewers by the 3 second of the video they’ll be showing it to LESS people.

It’s a lot and we have a ways to go, but we know we can get there with your support! Expressing genuine human emotion; curiosity, hope, interest, tells the algorithm our content is starting conversations which is exactly what we need. The most powerful shares aren't from massive content creators or influencers. It’s from you!
Every like, share, and comment that comes from a real place of interest helps us reach the next STEAMteers (Scientist,Tech Researcher, Engineer, Artist, and Mathematician Volunteers) (I’m not sure they’ll let me keep this joke in, Chat, but if you see this then they did).

So follow us on all the major social media platforms, we’re @realgoodai everywhere!
