ART

We believe in

STEAM

Art is what makes it worth being a human so our organization protects and promotes it as much as we can. (The human kind)

What We Think

about AI “Art”

We hire artists to do our art and will not use generative AI “art.”

AI models were trained on art without consent so we believe the created images are copyright infringement.  Because current neural network models are “black boxes,” proper credit cannot be applied to those training data, and it is not clear how the AI uses the training information. The point is not to pretend that the harm was never done, it is to mitigate future harm and allow artists a seat at the table. Artists can’t have a seat if they never enter the room.

Further, AI generated videos, voice, pictures, music, and art have dangerous applications in scams and deepfakes on which we would like to educate the public. We are not anti-technology, we are just against exploitation.

However, if AI can be used as a tool to help make artist’s lives easier, we are here for that.

There is a difference between AI using stolen images to generate art vs the tools that artists use to clean up or cut out images. We are here to listen to artists when it comes to how AI could be used as a tool to help them create.

  • Coloring Book Gallery

This program combines our support of artists, love of spreading science, and a way for us to share a bit of art made by humans to provide some offscreen relaxation to the community. Check out some new artists and print off a few pages to color from our Gallery Coloring Book Showcase.

  • Follow us on Twitch!

We’re live weekly on Twitch talking about our mission and interviewing guests from different scientific, non profit or creative fields every other week! We’d love to have you stop by for some of the conversations!

  • More soon!

We’re in the process of planning digital and in person events that celebrate science through art! We need a bit more time in the kiln with this one, though. Check back soon and make sure to sign up for our newsletter!

Did you know?

The texture art, painting, and scientific art featured on our site is done by our Executive Director Dr. Mandy Muyskens.

When we started developing our organization, we quickly realized we needed images to put on the site. Luckily enough, Amanda had a studio full of science & math inspired art that we were able to use, which quickly became a major part of our “BRAND”, but more importantly, we just love seeing art and science celebrated together!

Thanks for supporting the arts!
